Fortress

The storm won’t last

You will prevail

God is in the midst

He is your fortress

A Smile

This poem is read on the Hope Speaks Podcast Season 2 Episode 3

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay

It's important

Rarely is it unnecessary

You can put it in your back pocket

And pull it out when you need

It is equivalent to sunshine falling in the evening

A smile goes a long way

God blessed you with the ability to press forward on a rainy day

Never let the cloud cover get in your way

Be hopeful that even in the midst of your storm

Everything will be okay

To Hear

Seeing the contours of your face is a pleasure to me

You give me hope beyond tomorrow

Pushing me to move past the trials of yesterday

You are the sunlight cutting through the storm

Shine on my day once again

And make my cold heart warm

Your love is sweet poetry to tuned out ears

Inch closer to me with all the kind words

My lonely heart has longed to hear

Hold me in your gentle palms

Bring me near

Carefully Made House

Your house was made months in advance with care and consideration. It will last for decades more. Because love is the mortar that lies between burnt red bricks. And the shingled roof is reinforced with hope and painted with sweet day dreams. Your lawn is watered by bliss morning showers. Your garden is fertilized by prayers. Every morning, you arise and look out the window… The sun is always there.

Useless Lies

There is no no lie worth living. Only the truth can withstand the storm of life. Fables pass away but reality will stand the test of time.

Rider: Stormy Weather

Photo by Andre Furtado from Pexels

Will you still believe? When the cracks in the sidewalk break up the street? When salty tears fall like acidic rain? Fighting through the rumbling of stomach pain. I’m just curious… When the thunder strikes and things aren’t right? Will you be there? Bordering on the edge of nothingness and going nowhere. But in the cusp of the storm let a sista know that you still care.
