Short poem: Come Home

Here's the key

I promise the door is always open

My mind is disappointed

But my heart is hoping

I nearly gave up on searching

Till I picked up the pieces that were broken

All the while I pray that you come home

Please like, comment, follow and share. It makes all the difference in the world to me.

Running Mind

The bell rings

The curtain closes

The owl hoots

The alarm chimes

The time has come

My day is done

But there is no stop

To a running mind

Blue Feelings

Listen to the reading of this poem on Hope Speaks Podcast

I was painted blue with your love. But I'll get back up again. Only to swim in the sea of another's eyes. To sail in the dreams of a new lovers mind. To forget about the memories I choose not to remember. To push away the old feelings I'd rather leave behind. You are the cushion of old familiarity like a couch I became use to. The groves of a body settled into place. Accustomed to seeing your form and caressing your face. But when I needed comfort. I couldn't find you. No more swimming in blue oceans looking for the end of rising tides. It's time for a new adventure my heart is in need it something I can call mine.

Something More

Check out my podcast Hope Speaks to hear the reading of this poem and more.

Oftentimes we judge the book by the cover. So we don't read it and never get to the precious information inside. Failing to read the forward. Ignoring the author's bio. Going past the parts that pertain to the index. Thinking what book of value can I reject next? The eyes bypass the context. Attempting to select the best thing but choosing according to the flesh. Scrolling through eBooks hoping to find deeper subtext but always coming up short. Look for easy reads in a library full of complicated stories. Running from grace while a closed heart secretly searches for the Lord. Why are we alive? What do we suffer long for? Questioning minds wonder... A lonely soul implores that we read for the pleasure of finding something MORE.

Much Needed Rest

Photo by Richard Pantling on Pexels.com

Take me to your island

Where I can bask in the sweet sun

Swing in the night breeze

And frolic until my work is done

Just breath easy

No expectation for the anticipation

Of conversation

In truth, I want to rest

Experience joy, peace and happiness

No hurt in my voice

No ache in my chest

An end to the shakiness of breath

Where is the curve in the rainbow

Does it wait for me?

In the midst of this craziness

Can a misunderstood soul

Discover the bedrock of tranquility?

Sleep anxious body

Lay down your nervous flesh

You’ve held on long enough

Too tired to be emotional

Too emotional to be tough

So take me to your island

Where I can bask in the sweet sun

Swing in the night breeze

And frolic until my work is done

Twist and turn on a path outlined by cleared foliage

It leads through the bush

To a shoreline that sore soles need

Play in the warm sand

Drip excited toes in refreshing water

Afterward laugh and smile

Forget my troubles for a little while

This is my day to be free

Live with comfort

Wind down with ease

The ebb and flow of palm trees is a sight to behold

They gave pause to a worried mind

And silence to a complex feeling

Their leaves shift from side to side

Yet the bark stands tall

Call of the Shepherd

Image by Catherine Stockinger from Pixabay

Open hearts await for your call

Horns sounds at the mention of your name

Sadness fades at the acknowledgment of your greatness

Fears are buried with the troubles of yesterday

Old news has been placed on the back porch

Shrubbery can never replace the burning bush from which you spoke

Silent minds lay ready and eager for thoughts capable of filling them

Let the blazing sunshine of cool truth give answers to those who seek them

Sheep graze in the pasture waiting for a shepherd to lead them

Even when one has gone astray, He chases after it

And rejoices when the lamb is found
Ready and willing to provide nourishment and encouragement to the lost

So we await the voice of the loving redeemer

We pray for blessings curious eyes have yet to see

A brighter tomorrow gilded by the triumphant sound of victory

We will always hearken to the call of Jesus Christ

Failing Evil

Photo by George Becker from Pexels

Fear has become a fad in this dystopian society

People are afraid of everything

They run from the sight of their own shadow

Turning a blind eye to the truth that discomforts their achy soul

Irritated by those who speak their mind freely

Disgusted by narratives they are unable to control

There is no argument to be had

Because utilizing discourse to find common ground

Has gone out the window

So their right by default

And anyone that disagrees is at fault...

If your brother sees the world through a different lens

Why cling to disdain?

Can you not love through disagreements?

Make peace with a difference of opinion

Search for the truth instead of accepting lies

Spoon fed to you through TV

But fallacy will hold you

And reality will leave you cold

It takes a strong mind to believe in something

Beyond what their told

Make an effort to see past the moment

Look forward instead

Because the person you ignore

May butter your bread

But an empty soul can't be fed

Denied Notion

What is liberty?

Is it the ability to determine your future?

The right to make up your own mind

The leisure to make medical decisions free form coercion

Is it tied to selecting a career of your own choosing?

Does it lose validity if the path is picked for you?

Can freedom be limited by the venues you can or can't frequent?

Or is it inalienable rights passed down through citizenship?

What does liberty feel like?

Does it go on smooth like lotion

Or does it go down bitter like unsweetened poison?

When liberty is denied its existence becomes a notion
